From his appointment in 1952, the Lubavitcher Rebbe was motivated by his profound love for every Jew and spurred by his boundless optimism and self sacrifice. Therefore, he set into motion a dazzling array of programs, services and institutions to serve every Jew.
The Rebbe sent out large numbers of rabbinic emissaries, known as “Shluchim” – a husband and wife duo, to settle in places across the world for the purpose of teaching and inspiring their Jewish brethren. The vehicle chosen for this was termed a “Chabad House.” This is our center in Mt.Olive New Jersey.
Founding Principles
The Chabad Jewish Center is dedicated to serving all Jews in Mt. Olive and its surrounding neighborhoods with Ahavat Yisrael ~ an unconditional love and concern for every Jew, regardless of background or affiliation.
The Chabad Jewish Center is founded on the principle that, while Jews embrace many levels of observance in their personal lives, there should be a place for all Jews; no labels, no affiliations, to develop a sense of community and enhance the experience of being Jewish.
Our many programs, catering to all ages, are geared to educate and provide Jewish knowledge, awareness, and practice leading to a deeper sense of pride and appreciation of our heritage ensuring the continuity of the Jewish people. There’s palpable warmth here. Come feel yourself the ‘family’ atmosphere that makes Chabad so special and unique.
Chabad encourages every positive action on behalf of every Jew and facilitates the efforts of every organization, synagogue or group to increase Jewish knowledge and observance.

Our Rabbi
Warm, gentle, humorous, humble, but persistent, Rabbi Yaacov Shusterman urges everyone onward and upward, based on the teachings of Chassidism and the Lubavitcher Rebbe, that every Jew is precious and important because he is a Jew, and endowed with a G‑dly soul.
One more Torah class. Try out a mitzvah. Explore your roots, take one step further on the path of Judaism; tomorrow maybe another. What, when, how much and how fast is up to you. But take a step forward. As long one lives one must keep on growing.
Our Vision
Our vision is to have a fully functioning and self-sustaining Jewish Community Center in the area which services the Jewish needs of residents of Mt. Olive and nearby towns.
